How the Re-Rental Housing Program Works
The Re-Rental program offers affordable housing units in existing buildings. FAC manages the Re-Rental process directly for select properties, giving you another pathway to secure housing.
Many people hear about the Re-Rental program but aren’t sure how to apply. That’s why we recommend attending our free monthly Affordable Housing Information Session, where we walk through the Re-Rental process, eligibility and answer your questions live.

How the New York City Housing Lottery Works
The New York City Affordable Housing Lottery is managed through the NYC Housing Connect website, the city’s official platform for applying to newly developed affordable rental units. You can ONLY apply for housing units available in the lottery program directly from NYC Housing Connect.
Preview units available through the lottery on our website, which will then link you directly to the specific application for that unit. Please note: Applicants are allowed to submit applications for multiple buildings. Submitting more than one application for the same building will disqualify you. If you’ve already applied through Housing Connect, do not submit a second application through FAC’s website.
Visit the NYC Housing Connect website for all information about the application process.
Get Started with our Affordable Housing Information Sessions
Feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to begin? Our Affordable Housing Information Sessions are designed to help. These free, virtual sessions are held on the last Thursday of each month and are open to anyone navigating affordable housing in New York City.
In each 90-minute session, FAC’s expert housing team will:
- Explain both NYC Housing Connect Lottery and Re-Rentals options and application processes.
- Explain which documents are required —and when to submit them.
- Share realistic application timelines so you know what to expect.
- Host a live Q&A so you can get your questions answered in real time.
